(We know, we know … it looks like a lot to read, but we promise it’s worth it!)
Timing is Everything- Schedule your session keeping the following in mind: when is your yearbook deadline? when will fall activities/sports begin? do you have summer work commitments? will you be working? do you want outdoor portraits? any vacation planned?
Call Keiser Photography at 831-3206 ASAP for the best choice of available appointments- Our schedule fills very quickly so call early (April/May) for the best choice of summer appointments.
Come a few minutes EARLY! – All sessions will begin and end on time as a courtesy to all clients, so be here a few minutes early to double check details, ask questions, and settle in.
Support Groups- Feel free to bring up to 2 people with you to your session for moral support. These should be supportive and encouraging friends or family members. (Please note that we advise against bringing young children, as they tend to get fidgety and can be a distraction.)
Plan to have a GREAT time!!! – Our goal is to create a relaxing atmosphere where you can be yourself. We love to have fun during our sessions and we know that if you’re relaxed and enjoying yourself- we’re going to create outstanding portraits.
Props- We’d love for you to bring any instruments, athletic equipment, or other props that help to show your personality. When you schedule your appointment please let us know any props that you’ll be bringing so that we allow appropriate time, and so that we can brainstorm some creative ideas before you get here.
Braces- Yes they can be removed from portraits for $50 per pose. This artwork is very labor intensive and time consuming. Since we photograph seniors year round, you can come in just for a yearbook portrait in the summer or fall (depending on your yearbook deadline), and then come back after your braces are removed for the rest of your session.
Proper Clothing Fit is Essential!- Choose clothing that fits well, not too tight or too loose. You should feel comfortable and confident in your outfits. Plan for a variety of different poses in each outfit (sitting, standing, different angles, etc.).
Clothing Choices- Make choice well in advance of your session and think variety. Also, keep in mind that styles come and go, but these portraits will be around for years to come. Solid colors will photograph best for a classic look, and any patterns in clothing should be very simple and kept to a minimum. All clothing should be cleaned and pressed at least 1 day prior to your session to avoid any last minute shrinking or scorching surprises.
HAIR: Cuts, Color & Styles- Plan cuts and color at least 1 week prior to your session to avoid that “fresh cut” look and to let the color tone down to it’s most natural shade. Hair should look and feel natural, so wear a style that you can easily freshen up during clothing changes.
Love that Glow!- A warm glowing tan is always in style, but sunburns are neither comfortable nor flattering. If you’re planning to visit a tanning salon, start a couple of weeks before your session and let the color build gradually. If you’re planning your session for after a vacation, schedule at least a week after your return. (Most people have a little burn, and usually start peeling within a couple of days upon return.) Keep skin well moisturized to keep it looking it’s best and to keep your tan longer.
Tan Lines- Make clothing choices accordingly. If you can see tan lines in the mirror, the camera will see them too. Correcting/removing tan lines will be an additional charge.
Shaving- Guys looking for a really clean cut look should have a close shave before your session. A 5 o’clock shadow will show and cannot be removed from your portraits.
Blemishes- Not to worry! All finished portraits from Keiser Photography include standard retouching/image enhancement to make sure you look your best! This will include removal of facial blemishes, softening of lines under eyes, and natural blending of skin tone. We know everyone wants to look their BEST! If you have other questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask.
Make-Up – Make up should look natural. Concealer to cover blemishes and foundation to even out skin tone are always a good idea. Translucent powder works wonders on shiny areas. Trying out new eye, cheek, and lip color on session day is NOT recommended.
(If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call, e-mail, or stop by the studio. Our goal is to help you be as prepared as possible.)
